Happy 100th Anniversary, Crossword!

Today is the 100th anniversary of the crossword puzzle and to celebrate, I'm launching a website with a tutorial on how to solve cryptic crosswords. Welcome!

For the last few days, I've been posting sample clues on my Facebook page and inviting my friends to solve them. I showed examples of each of the six main types of cryptic crossword clues. Here, you can read a more detailed description of each of those types of clues, complete with examples, and -- when you're ready! -- try some practice puzzles. Just following the links at the top of the page here.

Cryptic crosswords only seem impenetrable until you've got someone to show you how to solve them. Then, they become super fun!
