As a special present for myself, I carved out a little time every day of the last week and put together a cryptic crossword with personalized clues.

I’ve made a series of personalized puzzles for other people and one of the first questions I face is this: Which words do I associate most closely with the recipient? Typically, a grid can only accommodate six or seven custom words before filling the rest of the blanks becomes problematic, so which ones take priority?
